852 Hz Solfeggio Frequency: The High Tone for Intuition and Seated Meditation
Pure tone at 852 Hz, solfeggio scale

852 Hz is traditionally the tone of intuition and inner order, the last of the original six. It is a high, bright tone near A flat 5 with a bell-like quality, and it is the solfeggio frequency our listeners use most for seated meditation, usually over a low drone.
- Theta 6 Hz beat
- 174 Hz drone underneath

What 852 Hz is
852 Hz is the sixth and highest of the original solfeggio tones, a bright pitch near A flat 5 with a bell-like edge. Tones this high stay in the foreground of attention, which is a problem for sleep and an asset for meditation. In Mindael it is generated at exactly 852 Hz.
What it is used for
The tradition pairs 852 Hz with intuition and inner order. In practice its best use is as the anchor in a seated meditation. Beginners are told to follow the breath and find it slippery; a steady high tone is not slippery, and returning to it a hundred times is the practice. A 6 Hz theta beat underneath adds a brain-rhythm anchor as well; a 2017 study found theta activity rising within about ten minutes of listening (Jirakittayakorn and Wongsawat, 2017).
It is not a sleep tone, and we would not use it alone for relaxation; the lower tones do that work better.
How to listen
Softly, over a low drone. A 174 Hz tone or an earth drone underneath at about twice its level gives the high tone something to sit on. Add a theta 6 Hz beat with earbuds, set twenty minutes, and treat the tone as the place you return to. Our meditation sounds page lays out three complete sessions.
The nine tones, where they come from and what the research shows are in our guide to solfeggio frequencies.
A tone to come back to.
The hardest part of a sit is having somewhere to return to. A high, steady tone over a low drone is easier to find than the breath, and Mindael lets you save that exact pair with a theta beat and a timer. 852 Hz is generated at exactly 852 Hz. Download it and set up tomorrow morning's session tonight.

Frequently asked questions
What is 852 Hz used for?
In the solfeggio tradition, intuition and returning to inner order. In practice it is a meditation tone: high and bell-like, easy to rest attention on, usually played softly over a low drone.
What does 852 Hz sound like?
A high, bright, slightly bell-like tone near A flat 5. It stays in the foreground, which is useful in a sit and unhelpful for sleep.
How do I use 852 Hz in meditation?
Put a low drone or 174 Hz underneath, add a theta 6 Hz beat if you have earbuds, and keep 852 Hz at a volume where it is clearly there but not sharp. Return your attention to it when the mind wanders.
