A small team, a lot of microphones, and one rule: measure it.
Mindael is an iPhone app for sleep, focus and relaxation sounds, made by a small team that started because we could not sleep either. This page explains who we are, how the sounds are made, and how the articles on this site are written.
What Mindael is
Mindael is a free iPhone app with more than 100 sounds: noise colors (white, pink, brown, green and more), binaural beats across every band from delta to gamma, the nine solfeggio tones, nature and ambience recordings, and meditation sounds such as bowls, bells and Om. You can layer up to eight sounds, save a mix, and let a timer fade it out. It works offline and needs no account.
It launched on the App Store in 2026 and is built by a small independent team. We are not a media company and we do not sell advertising; the app is the only product, which is why every page on this site ends with a download button and nothing else.
How the sounds are made
Noise colors are generated in our studio and measured before release so that the spectrum is what the name says: brown noise falls 6 dB per octave, pink 3 dB. Binaural beats use a clean carrier tone at the stated frequency difference. Solfeggio tones are generated at the exact pitch, not pitch-shifted recordings. Nature and ambience sounds are recorded or produced in-house and checked for loops and clicks before they ship.
We do this because most frequency audio online is not what it claims to be, and because a sound that drifts off spec is a sound that does not do its job.
How the articles are written
Every guide on mindael.io is written by the team that makes the sounds. We read the primary studies, cite them with working links to the journal (DOI), and describe what they found in plain language, including when a result comes from a small pilot. We do not publish claims we cannot source, and we do not invent testimonials or reviews.
Articles carry a published date and an updated date. The updated date changes only when the content changes, not to look fresh. If a study is corrected or a better one is published, the article is revised and the date moves.
Nothing here is medical advice. If sleep, attention or anxiety is affecting your life, please talk to a doctor; the sounds are a support, not a treatment.
