639 Hz solfeggio frequency: bright open tone for connection and warmth, shown with its waveform

639 Hz is traditionally the tone of connection: relationships, communication and warmth toward others. As a sound it is a bright, open mid-high tone, and our listeners use it as a soft background for conversation, journaling and reflective evenings rather than for sleep.

What 639 Hz is

639 Hz is the fourth of the original six solfeggio tones, a bright and open pitch near E flat 5. It is the first tone in the scale that clearly sits above the voice, which changes its character: it reads as light rather than warmth from below. In Mindael it is generated at exactly 639 Hz.

What it is used for

The tradition pairs 639 Hz with connection: relationships, communication, warmth toward other people. Our listeners mostly use it for the parts of an evening that involve someone else or their own reflection, as a background for dinner, a long conversation, journaling, or a heart-focused meditation. It is not a sleep tone; it is too present for that, and the lower tones do that job better.

There is no research on 639 Hz specifically. The tone and tuning studies so far concern 528 Hz and 432 Hz, and we describe them in the guide linked below.

How to listen

Softly, under something fuller. Ocean or an ambient pad at about twice its level, or an alpha 8 Hz beat beneath it if you are sitting with earbuds. Twenty to thirty minutes. Keep it low enough that it colours the room rather than filling it.

All nine tones, where they come from and what the studies found are in our guide to solfeggio frequencies.

Frequently asked questions

What is 639 Hz used for?

In the solfeggio tradition, connection and relationships. In practice it is a warm, open background tone for the kinds of evening that involve other people or your own thoughts: a dinner, a journal, a reflective sit.

What does 639 Hz sound like?

A bright, open tone near E flat 5. Higher than 528 Hz and more noticeable, so it wants a fuller sound underneath it, such as ocean or an ambient pad.

Is 639 Hz good for sleep?

Not really. It is bright enough to stay in the foreground. For sleep, the lower tones, 174 and 285 Hz, disappear into a mix far better.
